Splitting up into three teams due to the low turn-out, TMP took home three team trophies Saturday, placing 1st in both High School and Junior High divisions in their annual home tournament, played at Kennedy.
A High School team of six placed an easy 1st with 17 1/2 team points, outpacing both their Junior High counterparts and two other high school teams from Ellinwood with 13 and St. Xavier in Junction City with 7. Individually, Sophomore Blaise Staab, Sophomore Eli Stein, and Felicity Joplin of Pratt tied for first with 5 wins and 1 loss each, Blaise taking 1st on tie-breaks, and Eli taking 2nd.
The Junior High split up into two teams, the first team scored 14 1/2 team points, to place 1st in Junior High and 2nd overall. 8th Grader Zack Billinger led the team with 4 1/2 points, placing 1st individually, while 7th Grader Caden Pinkney placed 2nd with 4 points. A second Junior High team placed behind with 6 team points.

The 6th-grade class participated in the NASA Techrise virtual event today to see if they were selected for any of their proposed experiments. Although no teams were selected they all gained valuable experience in teamwork, collaboration, experimenting, and conducting proposals. They did an outstanding job and we are very proud of the entire class.

The TMP-Marian Scholars Bowl team competed in Phillipsburg last night. The Monarchs finished with an 8-2 record and second place finish. Our next action will be at Norton on Thursday.

Please be very careful walking on TMP-M's campus this morning. The melting and re-freezing has created some very slippery conditions. Maintenence is salting and addressing it as best they can. Take your time and be vigilant.

Today the JH did community outreach at Good Samaritan Society spending time with the resident.

On Saturday, the TMP-M Science Olympiad team competed in the regional competition at FHSU. Here are the notable results:

The TMP-Marian Solar Power Team, sponsored by MW Energy, is preparing for the statewide solar energy competition in February in Topeka. The team has been designing and building a solar power system that maximizes efficiency and usability.
As part of the design process, the students learn about different aspects of electrical production, such as how much energy is converted to heat versus light. Snacking on some lab-made 'smores (pictured) isn't a bad way to have some fun along the way!
The team is made up of sophomore Zechariah Dickman, junior Sam Schroeder, freshman Mattias Marintzer, and freshman Sam Krannawitter. The team is led by physics teacher Isaac Dennis.
TMP-Marian brainpower brings good into the world in many ways!
